Synergy
synergy • \si-ner-je\ • noun • etymology: New Latin synergia, from Greek synergos working together • definition: the working together of two or more things to produce an effect greater than the sum of their individual effects.
Mufasa: "Yes, Simba, but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connnected in the great Circle of Life."
So today for Relief Society we had a lesson on unity and Sister Staub mentioned that people in the church need to have synergy. I knew the gist of the definition of synergy but I wanted to know exactly. So when I got home and before I set to blogging I searched the definition and liked what I found. Synergy is more than just working together; it's working together to do something better than what could have been done by an individual entity. The definition brought all of God's creations to my mind. Every one of God's creations works in synergy, especially that of the human body. For example the musculoskeletal system is fantastic and does wonderful things, but what would it be without the cardiovascular system to bring it nutrients and oxygen. Furthermore where would the cardiovascular system get the nutrients and oxygen without the gastrointestinal and respiratory systems. Even outside the body the nutrients and oxygen come from plants and animals. Even apart from humans there is synergy in God's creations. Worms are decomposers and serve wonderfully and to keep them in check and under control the birds create synergy by eating birds and the worms complete that synergy by being food for the birds. I don't know if I'm really making sense. I guess it's like the circle of life. It's kinda like the Lion King in a way.
Mufasa: "Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope."
Simba: "But, Dad, don't we eat the antelope?" Mufasa: "Yes, Simba, but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connnected in the great Circle of Life."
It's not exactly like that but it somewhat portrays what I'm trying to express. Another thought that just popped into my head, God doesn't make mistakes. If He pays so much attention to something like a fly, that He gives it a hind pair of small halteres to aid in flight stability, imagine how much attention He put into His children. You are who you are and how you are for a reason. You have the experience, trials, and opportunities for a reason. Don't waste those. God doesn't make mistakes so don't sell yourself short. He made you a certain way so you could work together with someone who may be vastly different than you in synergy. The greater the diversity the better the outcome. Work with each other and create the synergy intended.
