Schnap!!

So one day in German class Christian played a song for us that was number one on the german pop-list for 6 months in 2005.  This song is "Schnappi das Kleine Krokodil."  ("Schnappi the small Crocodile" (Schnappi is a play on the verb schnappen which means to bite)) After listening to this song it was stuck in my head for days after.  One of those days I was walking out of my Book of Mormon class the lines, "Schnee, schna, schnappi. Schnappi, Schnappi, schnap!  Schnee, schna, schnappi. Schnappi, Schnappi, schnap!" playing through my head.  I slowed my pace as I waited for the people in front of me to make their way out of the classroom.  I was stopped behind a young man.  I turned my attention to his shoulder (which was at my eye level).   Bite. Bite now.  My jaw flexed, about to obey the odd urge.   No, no. I shook my head.   Don't do that .  The young man escaped with his shoulder unscathed.  Lucky him...

Cousins

I love cousins.  They're not around enough to really annoy you like siblings do on occasion, but they visit enough that they become fast friends.  They're sincerely interested in your life and they love you.  You can have guys that are friends without the complications of possible romance.  You have people you can confide in.  I am so grateful for my cousins.

Celebrating February

As February is coming to a close this Saturday why not pay our last tributes to the month of love.   February brings to mind Valentines Day and Presidents Day or Washington’s and Lincoln’s Birthdays. There is a whole lot more going on in February.  This was the layout for 2009. The February gemstone is amethyst and the flower is the Violet and the Primrose.  February was named after the Latin term  februum , which means  purification , via the purification ritual Februa  held on February 15 in the old Roman Calender. February is: American History Month Black History Month National Blah Buster Month National Embroidery Month National Grapefruit Month National Snack Food Month National Wedding Month Responsible Pet Owner Month An Affair to Remember Month Great American Pie Month Return Carts to the Supermarket Month Creative Romance Month International Twit Award Month Canned Food Month American Heart Month Children's Dental Health Month International Friendship Month National Cherry

Makeover!

So in case you're really slow and haven't noticed, my blog got a makeover.  From its dark and mysterious background, it's turned to a new more cheery look.  Now it looks like I have a girly frilly blog! I'm not sure how long this will last but I figured as long as I'm cheery lets make the blog look like it! :P

"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!"

That song has been stuck in my head all day!  I nearly skipped to PT early this morning.  Today is just so great and it's not even because it's my birthday.  That's merely coincidental. I never get excited about my birthday.  But whatever it is I just can't stop smiling!  I'm pretty sure my whole German class thought I was insane.  Every time someone walked into the room I would shout, "Fr öliche Montag!"  That means Happy Monday.  It's odd because when it comes to Mondays I'm a total Garfield.  I love that fat orange cat... :)  Anyway today is wonderful, and I'm wearing a sparkle shirt. I think I might just ramble on until Book of Mormon starts.  It's a beautiful day and I love the rain.  The rain washes the world clean and makes everything fresh and alive! Water brings life!  I wish everyone could feel like this. It's wonderful. I don't even know how to explain it.  Life is just so blissfully wondrous! My heart feels like it's

A True Gentleman

Guys, if it is late at night, or early in the morning for that matter, and you see a young woman walking about, do not walk behind her.  Even if you are going in the same direction, either speed up to pass her (from a distance), or slow down enough so that it doesn't seem like you are following her.  It freaks us out when a guy just keeps walking behind us and we're all alone.  Anyway I thought I'd share that... No to give this post actual substance here's some real qualities of a true gentleman in the form of a long excerpt from the book  Self Help .  I know this is an extremely long post but it has some good stuff in it and I think it's worth reading. Although Samuel Smiles is a name heard little of nowadays. his book Self Help was a prominent fixture in many Victorian homes.  Smiles' formula for success was simple and straightforward; patience, a well-ordered mind, self-discipline, and hard work.  Smiles also makes the point that "character is power, &q
